The Slivsø, which is a very large breeding ground for many birds, including the kingfisher, sea eagles and 180 other birds is located in the vicinity. Pike, perch and trout can be caught in this lake. The Diernæs beach is family friendly as the calm waters of the Little Belt strait is best suited for children. The ancient city centre with the 13th century cathedral is located in Haderslev. Do visit the Dampark in the city centre. The Gråsten Castle in the south is the royal family’s summer residence. Just continue south and you will reach Sønderborg, which is beautifully situated on the Flensburg Fjord along Als. Sønderborg has a beautiful harbour, lovely cafes, interesting Castle and the historical centre Dybbøl Banke. The Danfoss Universe, a science adventure centre, is located on Als.
