    “Mijas Pueblo is a lovely picturesque mountain village. It has fantastic views and a large village square. There are many restaurants catering for all tastes, shops and supermarkets. The village is kept immaculate by the town council and has good bus links. You don’t need a car and there are a number of bus routes from the village connecting to surrounding towns and coast.”

    “Ein Auto ist zwingend erforderlich, durch die Lage in den Bergen kommt mann sonst schlecht vorwärts. Zum Ort Mijas selbst können wir nicht viel berichten, wir waren meistens in Andalusien unterwegs. Der Ort ist tagsüber voll mit Touristen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es, haben aber mittags zu. Gaststätten, Bars, usw. gibt es jede Menge. Die Qualität der von uns genutzten Restaurants war gut, die Preise sind dem Tourismus angepasst, nicht merklich teurer als in Deutschland. Sehenswürdigkeiten gibt es kaum, außer die Stadt selber ist ja eine Solche.”

    “Mijas ist ein wunderschöner Urlaubsort mit einer tollen Aussicht und vielen Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall, insbesondere am Abend, um den Sonnenuntergang zu genießen. Die Straßen rund um Mijas sind anfangs etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, bergig und kurvig. Sobald man die Umgebung kennt, legt sich das jedoch vollkommen. Zum Baden eignen sich besonders die Strände von La Cala de Mijas, dort ist deutlich weniger touristischer Trubel als im nahe gelegenen Fuengirola. Ausflüge in das andalusische Umland sind sehr lohnenswert. Wir haben Ronda, Marbella, Malaga und Granada besichtigt. Gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten befinden sich in Alhaurin (Mercadona) oder in La Cala de Mijas (Aldi, Lidl, Mercadona). Für frisches Brot muss man gar nicht so weit fahren, das bekommt man jeden Morgen frisch in dem kleinen Laden an der BP Tankstelle. Wer etwas weiter fahren möchte, der findet in La Cala de Mijas eine schöne Bäckerei mit vielfältigem Angebot. Die Gegend rund um Mijas bringt alles mit für einen unvergesslichen Urlaub in Andalusien.”

Mijas Village was recognized in 1969 as a Historic-Artistic Complex, an award based on criteria related to the typical landscapes and the picturesque character of the village. In fact, the fundamental importance of Mijas resides in its pure character as an Andalusian village and in its privileged situation. The typical agglomeration of picturesque streets and squares and the simplicity of the white buildings, with bars and balconies full of flowers, situated in the middle of a superb panorama, with the mountain covered in pine trees behind and with the splendid extension of the sea in front.
